Sunday Worship

WE WELCOME YOU in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. We thank him for this opportunity to share our faith and to be strengthened by His Word. If you have no church home, we sincerely invite you to become a part of our family. Please sign the guest book in the narthex and fill out a registration card from the bulletin and pass it to the center aisle.

HOLY COMMUNION will be celebrated in the 8:00 a.m. service today. The Missouri Synod practice of close communion is the historic practice of the Christian church on earth. It is prompted by love for God’s Word and for God’s people. It does not deny that members of other churches and denominations are Christian. Rather, it bows the knee to the Bible’s deep concern for doctrinal truth (Romans 16:17) and the Bible’s witness that doctrinal unity is central to the common reception of this sacrament. Therefore, we request that only confirmed members of the LCMS approach the Lord’s Table. For questions regarding this practice, please see the pastor following the service.

THE ELDERS WILL GREET YOU at each exit following worship services as you leave the sanctuary, as they share with you the joy and warmth that fill the hearts of all believers hearing the promises of Jesus.

A NURSERY ROOM is available in the Fellowship Hall for parents with children if the need arises. Please ask the ushers if you need assistance finding and using the room.

OUR WORSHIP SERVICE is broadcast every Sunday over KRIB at 10:15 a.m. Today’s broadcast is sponsored by Blayne and Rhonda Regan, Matthew, Ellis, and Benjamin, in memory of Rhonda’s mother, Mary Lou Faust.

REMEMBER OUR ILL AND SHUT-INS in your prayers. Known to have been hospitalized during the week: Mercy East – Butch Smuck (released)

WE ASK GOD to comfort and bless the families and friends of --
-- Bernadine Rodemeyer, who are saddened by the death of her sister, Phyllis; and
-- Willie Handt, who are saddened by the death of his brother, Bob.

PRAYER REQUEST FORMS are available in the narthex and the church office. If you have a special prayer need, you may fill one out and place it in the offering plate, hand it to an usher, or leave it at the church office.

QUIET ACTIVITY BAGS are available at the back of the church for young children. Please feel free to use them during the church service and return them to the tree afterward.
COME, ENJOY the sights, sounds and tastes of the Big Easy with the LYF. LYF will be having its annual Sweetheart Dinner on February 21, with pre-meal entertainment starting at 5:15 p.m. and serving starting at 5:30. We will be serving French Dip sandwiches, cheesy hashbrown casserole, lettuce salad and King’s cake. If you are interested in providing us with some entertainment, there is a sign–up sheet across from the office. We welcome any and all talents! Make sure to mark February 21 on your calendars, and the LYF looks forward to seeing you there!

CARD CLUB will be held Sunday, February 14 (note change of date), at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome. Come for an evening of fun, food, fellowship, and “500”. Transportation can be provided if necessary.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES: Two great coaches meet today in the Super Bowl. Researcher George Barna notes that great parents are like great coaches. Four qualities of great coaches as they relate to their teams are also true for parents as they relate to their children: 1) the impact of a great coach (parent) on his player (child) is proportional to the depth of the relationship fostered with them; 2) great coaches (parents) whole-heartedly embrace the outcomes they are pushing their team (children) to achieve; 3) great coaches (parents) are great communicators; and 4) great coaches (parents) have a comprehensive plan for reaching the “promised land”. So, coach, how is your team doing? Lutheran Family Service of Iowa

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! In April the LWML will be hosting our annual Salad Luncheon on Thursday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Every year we are having more difficulty finding people who are able to volunteer to help us serve this event. All proceeds from our Salad Luncheon go to missions, which many times have been in our own church, youth group, or preschool-childcare. We are asking for volunteers from our congregation to help us this day for a couple of hours. Without your help, we are not sure we will be able to continue with this event, due to lack of enough people to serve, set tables, pour coffee, etc. Please prayerfully consider volunteering if at all possible. If you can help us out, please leave your name at the office or contact Diane Djuren. God’s Blessing to you, and Thank You.

JUST A REMINDER - COMMUNITY KITCHEN will be served the second Thursday of each month during the year. Call Shielah Handt (423.0134) if you are able to help with this worthy cause.

INVITATION – Members of Bethlehem are invited to attend the installation of Rev. Bruce Miller at Messiah Lutheran Church this afternoon, at 2 p.m.

WE WOULD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE ALL THE MEMBERS OF BETHLEHEM to prayerfully consider signing up for times to help clean the various areas of the church. In order to keep our facilities welcoming and inviting, it requires the assistance of more than just a few people to care for the church. If you would like to be part of a crew rather than just doing it yourself, that can be very easily arranged. Thank you.
